HB...I wont be getting near enough to even think about kissing them.. When we move my next pond is going to be as far away from the house as possible..as mine is a bit close to the house as i can see it from the kitchen window..It was meant to be for the birds !!!!

All I can say is [IMG] [IMG] Hornbeam!!

The story goes, Wildflower, I was sitting on the steps next to my herb garden having a cuppa a few weeks ago, dogs were mooching in the garden. Next thing PLOP the biggest toad IN THE WORLD (no exaggeration ;) )LANDED RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!!!! Mollydog had ousted him out just for me....thanks Moll

He was between me and the back door, so I had no choice. I closed my eyes and jumped as far as I could over him and ran indoors. Poor chap was frightened, no doubt, at this huge lump in the air and remained in the corner of the patio for AGES. Dilemma.....having got the dogs in quick, bribing them with food, I couldnt let them out for the rest of the afternoon till hubby came home and made sure the T had gone  As much as they revolt me, and I have been known to be [IMG] at the sight of one before, I hate the thought of harming one!!

There, that was good therapy to write it all down :D

I think both of you, Marge and Wildflower, ought to be congratulating yourselves on doing your best despite the phobia [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

H - now if that had happened I would be moving to a flat with no garden immediately [IMG]

D - thanks for that. Some people make fun of me but when I say 'Do you like spiders?' they screw up their faces and say 'Ooh no, hate them'. When I tell them I have no fear of spiders and can pick them up and put them outside no probs they are amazed!! I point out that how they feel about spiders is how I feel about frogs and toads! Phobias aren't rational - people without them just don't understand that. I don't like heights myself....

But to get back on thread, I think it sets an incredibly good example if two people can have a pond, and frogs, etc, etc, despite having a phobia about them. So well done both of you!!

Well said Dendy, phobias aren't rational but very real all the same. Good for Marge & Wildflower.

Terrified of spiders myself but since I've taken up gardening my fear has become less. I think you get used to things if you constantly encounter them in their own environment.
