      Glad you got your Allotment....didn't know there was such a waiting list up north,
      waited 2 1/2 years for mine :) even with all the hard work I had to put in, it was well worth the wait :)

      This is the second year growing small purple potatoes, I just buy them from the shop where they are sold as gourmet for eating rather than as seed potatoes - in a small bag for $3. I do live in a pretty hot climate and have been harvesting them for a bit, three big pots to dig yet, (2 purple, 1 white). The purple are fantastic, firm, excellent flavor, and very deep purple throughout - much more than the ones bought. My soil seems to be excellent for roots as the beets, carrots, and potatoes do very well and have a very sweet flavor. I grow these yellow carrots because they are large if let go, and mild and sweet - perfect for mashing with potatoes. (I grow 5 colors of carrot)

      edit: this is planting them in late January, they are definitely darker purple than the ones planted.
