@hans then I hope that you too are a very good shot!!! To leave injured, dying animals lying around is unforgivable!!!

Not a very good shot but with telescopic lens and 22 slug you don't miss. 17 last year. When you get rid of the Greys birds will start using the trees again. Trapping is another way but the gun is for sure. Sounds dreadful but in the real world we kill all the time just pop into the Butchers.

Rats get a slow death with poison, some wild animals that get hit by cars/lorries can have a slow death

              Noooo!
We don't have grey squirrels over here, apart from a few escapees. We only have red squirrels...

I personally wouldn't poison any animal, just too cruel, yes animals hit by cars can have a slow death but most 'roadkill' is pretty instantaneous.

Damn little critters dug up another strawb! Didn't carry it off this time though so I have replanted it. This means war! First move will be to move the hanging baskets away from the fence lol!

Watched one run straight up a two storey house today, it then sat on a first floor window sill and made eyes at a cat which had chased it. So glad it wasn't my house, never thought of needing to close windows against squirrel attack.

They sell squirrel pies near us at a butchers in Glossop Derbyshire Sheal and it is used widely now in restaurants too, found it on the menu in England, Scotland and Wales and beautifully presented as a curry in Indian restaurants!

Not tried it yet Rosebay will post when I do. My friend has tried it though and she reckons it tastes like rabbit.
I agree about the lack of meat, must be really fiddly to prep!
