    I have a very long narrow garden, if I grow trees normally I wouldn't be able to get past- I love to see an old espaliered fruit tree against a wall. I like bonsai as well....

    Espalier can be the only way to grow apples in some small gardens - I just don't like to see them like that - same as I don't like to see pollarded trees but can see that sometimes it is necassary. I just like to see trees growing as trees - soft ain't I :D

    I've got a long narrow patch just waiting for some espaliers! Nowt else suitable to put there!

    I'm very glad I'm lucky enough to have enough space to have 2 apple trees, including one on an M6 rootstock! If I didn't have the space, I guess I'd prefer to do without the tree - but I don't know.... :rolleyes:
