Standard Bay Tree - Pruning?

    Your bay looks quite good, in my opinion.

    Mine has developed a thicker, tapering trunk but that's because it's so old. It's got a bit of middle-age spread!

    Next spring, I reckon you could give yours a good prune, reducing the top growth by at least a third. possibly even a bit more, once you get your eye in. It's then a balancing act between feeding it enough to keep it healthy but not too much to make it top heavy.
