Thanks for the tip. The area concerned is small, and I have two things in my favour. I have time, in the sense that I'm not too bothered if it takes me longer than it should. And I have a goal to get my strength and fitness back, and an absolute determination to become ten years younger by the end of this year :hapydancsmil:

If you have a compost shredder, or a rotary mower, you could re-chop straw and even use it as a mulch when composted.

You mustn't chop it too finely as the idea is to use it to keep the ground more open. So thick shredding is fine but tiny shredding isn't. I don't know how smaller a shredder chops things as I have never used one.

If you achieve this, please let me know the trick.

I will achieve it, as long as I don't get blindsided again.

When I returned to the world of martial arts after 20 years off, a lot of family and friends would tactfully suggest I was too old for it, I'll hurt myself or do myself a mischief. I would laugh, and tell them I'm getting younger. Of course I was joking. I know you can't reverse the clock. But training to become more fit and agile certainly feels like getting younger.
