You say that in jest, but my dad once bought my mum an iron for Christmas. How she resisted the urge to shove it point first..........

And when they split up, he couldn't figure out why she wasn't happy?!?

:hate-shocked: Strangely, following my postings, we have had a slight 'problem' with ours ... but I have now ordered a more up-market model to be delivered next week and this 'problem' one will go to our van/cabin by the river. We DO believe in them!

Christmas presents ... ??? ... we don't buy each other those, haven't for years (after 46 years you almost give up ....) but we did buy ourselves the Phillips Viva Airfryer last week which we have fallen in love with and have packed up our deep-fat fryer to give away ... now, that's a buy and a half and I would say ANY woman or man would LOVE one of those for Christmas! :yahoo:

However, I DO have a pressie (not necessarily Christmas) that has just arrived from hubby ... a 1952 solid gold Vintage Rolex Tudor watch, it is so delicate but we had to adjust the wristband for my skinny wrists ... classy! :wub2:

Last week, we were out shopping and I mentioned I needed a new coat (stupid, STOOPID!, me :wallbanging: ) and Mr "M" - thinking he was being clever - marched me into a department store, with a 25% sale on, and stated: "How about we get you one for your birthday and Christmas present :) ?"

        :th scifD36:

        :psnp:

        :nonofinger:

Why is it, when you have a December birthday, "others" think it is quite OK for you to have a combined birthday/Christmas gift and even then (!) it can be quadrupled up as something you either *need* (e.g. winter coat!) or something for the house (as in above example, an iron! ... ??????)

Men: take heed! Those thoughts are *not* appreciated! :pathd:

Addendum: I bought four :heehee: (why not, at that price?) ...

.. then gave him my birthday and Christmas list (with not one coat amongst the selection!):wub2:

My mum's birthday is on Christmas Eve, and with one exception it has always been a present for each; the exception was the year we got her a Blu-Ray player, and that was back when they were still something of an expensive novelty

Hubby's Sis's birthday WAS Christmas Day .. how bad can that be ... ? :hate-shocked:

Fortunately I chose a hubby whose thoughts are appreciated ... although I must admit he purposely married me on my birthday so he only had ONE date to remember ... bless his little heart, soul and gizzard. I've had flowers from him twice, once on my 21st (our 1st) red and white carnations and flowers for my 40th (our 20th) 40 long-stem red carnations and 20 long-stem white carnations delivered to my works and I had to drive home with them in my sports car and I couldn't see to drive ... :heehee::heehee: ... but he did buy me an apartment in Portugal for that occasion (which we still have) instead of an XKE Jaquar (E-type) ... my choice ... :love30::love30:

We don't buy each other pressies any more ... we don't need anything ...

                Blessed? ;)
My mother's was Boxing Day (and that was bad enough - for her generation!) and do not even *ask* me of the Dec/Jan birthdays in our family (you may get a sense of bankruptcy :rolleyespink: )

Sounds like you got yourself a romantic keeper, there, Victoria! :dbgrtmb:

My Wife and I have family whose birthdays are all between Dec 24th and Jan 04, Damn the Easter bunny :-)
It was always a case of a Little better present for Crimbo (and that's for your Birthday too)

Now I have given them an official Birthday June 6th with HMQ, we have a party and pressies

My birthday is Boxing Day, and all my life got less presents and cards on my birthday than my siblings, then when I had my children my son was born New Years day, my daughter the 3rd January, 5 years apart. :wallbanging:

On the steam cleaners has anyone used them to clean stone patio flags ? I am not going to steam the complete patio ! Just the one or two with bad staining under some planters . Can you get different grades of mop heads for these tasks ?

Just found another use for the steam cleaner - pulled out one of the salad bins at the bottom of the fridge to find a pool of something that had leaked (why do they put indentations on the floor of the fridge to allow stuff to collect, unseen, below the drawers???); anyway, when I set about cleaning it all up, I found that the whole thing had been made worse by the condensate drain being blocked.

So, I dug the steam cleaner out, and as well as using one of the brush attachments to clear a stain on the bottom of the fridge, I used the pressure nozzle to literally blow the blockage out of the drain hole.

:eeew: My current fridge/freezer does that whereas my older one in the shed does not. It seems to happen about once a month so I pull the drawers out and use J-cloths (the cheap versions) to mop it out and clear the blockage ... only takes a couple of minutes ... couldn't be hassled with getting a gadget out to do it ... :hate-shocked:

PS Is it just me that recently when I put an emotive up it comes up double?
