      Or use something to make the pattern in the wet concrete.

      You could always make the mold out of sand. That's how they do it on programmes like Time Team etc.

              I've got the recipe now too but not the time to make half a dozen yet. :doh::) I will also have the tree stumps for the pattern in the not to distant future but may use something else though. ;)

                I bought some from a local garden centre a few years ago and also had the good fortune to find two pieces washed up on beach after a big winter storm. Mine are more of 'planks ' than squares but they do look like wood and now they've weathered a little they look even better.
