Thanks all, you're so kind! :grphg: ........And yes my toilet roll supplies are good, I've made sure of that! :heehee:

The lights have just flickered, that's not good. I have some medicine in my fridge that has to be kept at a certain temperature, so please, I don't want a power cut, although I do have a makeshift back up for emergencies unless the power goes off overnight.

Zigs, are you alright down there in your neck of the woods?

I know a power cut is a pretty unpleasant thing, but I wouldn't be too worried about the contents of the fridge. In the current weather conditions, its about the same temperature outside as it is in the fridge, so worst case, stick everything in the coldest unheated room you have, or a garage if you have one.

No it's too warm outside Clueless, it has to be stored between 2-8C. It's delivered in a lot of packaging with large ice packs all round it. They are currently in the freezer should I have to put the medicine back into it's packaging. The medicine is too expensive to take a chance with it.

Went to bed about 10.30pm and have been listening to it get steadily worse. I have come back down to log on again. I feel anxious - my daughter lives up a mountain in the middle of Ireland and Ireland is getting a battering at the moment with strong wide white arrows blowing across...
hope she and all of you are OK,
        Jenny

It's dire outside now.....just had to put some parcel tape on the letter box as it's clanging away in the wind. Our wheelie bins are hopefully being emptied tomorrow and I've had to go outside and retrieve them as even full of rubbish they had blown into the middle of the road. :gaah:

Hi Jenny, try not to worry too much. :grphg: I'm not that far from Ireland and the wind has eased a fair bit now, probably the eye of the storm. Hopefully we'll make it to daylight before it picks up again. It always seems worse at night.

My wheelie bin just took off (literally), flew over the top of dear old Gothilda, and crash landed on the pavement at the feet of some passing people who had to jump out of the way. It then set off again into the road, where a passing car had to swerve and brake to avoid it. I saw the whole event through the window, and went rushing out to catch it. One of the people who it narrowly missed sort of hung around and looked like he wanted to say something, so I was slightly worried he might want to show fight, but fortunately he elected to stand down and walk on.

                      Blimey.

Wonder who's liable if one damages something? Us or the Council for making us have the damned things in the first place?

We're still being blasted here and the wind is set to break around dusk. There's a fair bit of damage around the island......

My greenhouse is still standing, just, and I've pinned the dodgy door against the frame, if I lose that - the greenhouse will disappear as the wind is hitting it face on!

I'm hoping to do an evening shop but it's not looking good at the moment with many roads impassable.

The same thought crossed my mind too. They all have Redcar and Cleveland council's logo on them, suggesting they remain the property of said council, so I'd say they're liable, but they would no doubt say otherwise. I guess if it came down to it, it would be up to the insurance companies to slog it out between them.
