Storm on

Fern.....my family survived the hurricane in Essex years back, so I'm ready to meet the dark side again here! Believe it or not the sun's shining here at the moment, no doubt a brief interlude.

 

wind is picking up i am not convinced the neighbours fence will take this next round, Our trains being cancelled this afternoon as most of the track goes along the west coast some bridges already closed to high sided vehicles and two schools have already sent kids home ahead of the storm

Its certainly picking up here. I just went out to retrieve the wheelie bin and I was nearly blown over, never mind the bins. Got it back now, and its wearing its lead now.

Its literally picked up in the last hour, an hour ago I was out and it wasn't too bad.

As for fences, mine is going to go sooner or later. Its rocking like mad. I've already had to take down two panels on one side, as they'd ripped off in the last gales, and one was holding on by one nail. I took them down as a safety precaution because I've seen what happens to thinks like that if the wind manages to get under them. They can take off and fly with potentially lethal force.

Hang in there Kaz! The wind had dropped here for about half an hour or so, probably the eye of the storm, it's now starting to pick up again.

 

I hope it passes over quickly & fades away

 

Looks like we might be in the eye of the storm, the sky has suddenly become a lot lighter and the wind has stopped!

 

Very gusty here in the East Mids, I'm worried about my fences and greenhouse, all shaky at the best of times. I don't like it at all!

 

Have you got the calm bit now @Madahhlia ? I don't know where in the east mids you are but it's suddenly gone quiet & sunny here in Bakewell!

 

Just looked out of the kitchen window. I reckon by morning, I'll be minus my fence, and possibly my greenhouse. They are giving it rock all out there.

 

Batten down the hatches! It looks like the north west is going to be in for a rough ride over the next few hours (it's just been on the news over here). We've had some of that stuff too for the last week, with the worst being last weekend. Stay safe everyone!

 

It's gone really dark now....it's supposed to be bad here from 3pm onwards until the early hours of the morning. There's some scaffolding over the road.....I hope it doesn't make it's way over here!
