I knew the weather would be rubbish but not this bad, it's crazy out there. Predicting a fair few trees down tonight. Hopefully my neighbours!

I've had to make some concessions tonight as far as the lad's bed time is concerned. In an unusual twist, I've allowed him to have his stereo on as he tries to go to sleep, because when I checked 10 minutes ago he was quite bothered by the howling wind and all the banging and clattering, so I figured if he had some music on he could focus on that instead and hopefully be distracted from the storm noise.

He's fast asleep now. I've still left his stereo on though. I'll turn it off when I go up.

Glad to hear everyone is weathering this storm, excuse the pun! :) It's been wild here since 6.30pm although it's been blowing all day. Our forecast says it should have reached it's pinnacle around 9pm so hopefully it's on the downward turn now but doesn't sound any different yet. There's plenty of noises going on outside but inspection can wait until daylight tomorrow.

There's trees down all around the island and roads flooded but I haven't had a news update for about two hours. The wind has gusted up to 80mph and up to 105mph on the mountain.

Oh, and the boat didn't sail this evening, I wonder why? :heehee:

What a afternoon and evening we are all having , I can finally say its stopped raining and its a lot more calm but the gust's just come from nowhere and then totally quite again , next door but one back fence is half in the river so I cant see that being there in the morning, but looking at Sky news I count myself very lucky , my brother who lives in Staines and the water this morning was 10 feet away from the house, looks like he is moving into my other brothers for the next couple of days at least who lives in higher part of Surrey.

To think more is one the way :hate-shocked:

Crewe, which is about 19 miles from me has closed the Railway Station due to part of the roof being blown off and starting a fire when it hit the electrical rail in the track, so the Hotels will be doing a good business as the Railway is paying for the overnight accommodation of the stranded passengers.:coffee:

There's an article on the news about the storm. Its got some photos in it but I think the first photo is fake.

                                http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-26150788

Seen the size of that wave? If that is for real, then that pub doesn't stand a chance. I know harbour-side buildings are often reinforced these days but everything has its limit. A building taking direct hits from 100ft breakers is not going to last five minutes no matter what its built out of.

                                Or have I misunderstood/misinterpreted something?

If it is real, its pretty scary.
