I have had a Callistemon for 7 years now and while it flowered for the first time last year it has failed to flower this year.........but at least it survived the "Beast from the East":hapydancsmil::snorky:

That's weird ARMANDII ...as they're supposed to flower yearly mine never missed and I have to agree with you on that it survived the beast at least :)

I think the problem is, Gail, that it's probably in too much shade from the Jasmine and Clematis hedge that runs along the North side of the Wildlife pond. I might consider moving it to a sunnier but still protect place.:dunno::snorky:

Yes I would definitely move it they're proper sun worshippers and even if they don't get fed water they still flourish in the sun but all you see once they've flowered is Bee's :snorky:...it's the shade doing it :)

I forgot to mention are they showing dark brown now and as it already flowered?...also watch squirrels where they're concerned as they love the nectar in the pods.

Loubielouy. May I offer you a very warm welcome to Gardeners Corner, and I certainly look forward to sharing my gardening interest with you.

Truly. This is a very friendly forum. Between you and me. I think some members have been a my Scotch and have become a bit jovial with their replies. (wink). Please continue to post and most of all. Enjoy your gardening.

Yes. Internet forums have brought many like minded folk together. At time we might take it for granted, after perhaps having exchanged the odd message, that we know each other well. This may be true say on a scientific forum, where signs & symbols play a part. Here however we are, regardless of whatever our level of gardening skills might be. We are gardeners.

However YOU ask me a question. I in return attempt to answer it. Perhaps the answer might be a bit comical, but at the same time, you can't see my facial expression. So it is very easy for one to perhaps take umbridge at times.
Please allow yourself to pass over it. Life is too short to carry grudges.

I can only think that English is not Loubielouy 's first language.

It should be this one mate because before mine flowered they would show the dark brown seeds first and as they grew a bit larger you would see the red spikes starting to show through like this.

If it is a Callistemon it probably would have finished flowering by now. The three yellow varieties I have flower early, mainly in June. The seeds are in capsules which are brown.
