Is it worth trying to guess? If the OP would write another post and keep in contact we might be able to help :noidea:

To be honest, Gail, after the few rather terse and unsympathetic replies that she received I would be doubtful if she will stay around or even come back.:wallbanging: I think it's time that we remember that some new members need treating with some empathy and courtesy which has seemed to be somewhat lacking in this thread.:coffee:

I totally agree with you in those regardings...she could have been easily asked to explain the plant a bit better in a nice manner, what's hard in that :dunno:

We have in the past on GC had some very strange posts, usually gibberish from Trolls.
So that is why personally I treat this kind of post with caution.
I must admit when I first saw it I was thinking of reporting it as I thought it was someone up to no good.

I hope loublelouy reads this and comes back to us.:)

I am embarrassed by the responses that include wild guesses but little empathy to probably a genuine question. The benefit of the doubt should be the default surely!

Many folk do not know much about plants or how to describe them. Only this evening I had a query about a plant that made no sense until I enquired further.

We can ...should ...do better than this.

Pete it seemed that way to me mate at first but I re-read it a few times and got a rough idea, as some people joining new forums do have problems expressing themselves and this may of been the case.

Jeez, pete, a lot of people think that about my posts.:wallbanging::doh::snorky:

I love the English language with a passion and it gives us the ability to say so many things in so many different things in so many different ways.. Trolls and the like are now, thankfully, rare...........but that's what the Admin Team are there for. If you, or anyone, thinks there's a problem then do report it but I like to go on the premise that they're innocent until proved guilty. Trolls are easily discovered in a few posts in a thread, but members with little horticultural knowledge or possible language ability skills are also easily identifiable too.:dunno::heehee:

pete at the end of the day mate...things could have been said better, there's been posting done which was helpful and we could have add a reply to and nothing happened and we can't help no more unless a reply came from the member ;)

But it does not help when we criticise members by name when they're acting on very little information and one who hasn't even offered any advice or help.........that will give new members the idea that we are not the friendly forum that we actually are.:dunno:

( not mentioning any names Tetters and Verdun ).

So, on Saturday it seems I was acting on ''very little information'' and a good sense of humour means a better sense of life.......... but now, by Monday, this becomes ''terse and unsympathetic''

Well what a silly sod I am - I`m totally confused :rolleyespink:...... no hope for me at all, might as well go and eat worms.
