Regarding not overwatering - are they similar to tomatoes, where if you over water you get a larger yield but less flavour? As well as the going mouldy thing, which is never good!

how do i rescue this years plants and all the runners? do i just the runners off and plant them in potting compost in little tubs ? ? where should i store them ? ? the rain destroyed any strawberries this summer, my husband has promised me some sort of shelter thing for next year, but the plants themselves are fine and healthy, with lots of runners.

When should I cut back my strawberry plants for over wintering? As they are in a pot tower should I still water them?

I just leave mine in their pots and put them behind the shed for the winter, they come back in the spring they are very hardy.

I potted any runners up in summer, then when they rooted cut them off from the parent plant. you could put them under cover for the winter if you like, but mine came back this year after being left outside.

Thanks TO. I'll just leave them as they are then as the pot holds 30 plants and I definitely cannot move it. Fingers crossed they'll survive fine.
