Only six dances now it’s Quarter Finals. Looking forward to what’s on offer tonight.

One performance clearly weaker than any of the others. The voting will be interesting to say the least.

Just had an evening of Strictly. The wrong couple left because both couples should have been in the semi final. The couple who should have left were saved yet again. It isn't a dance competition anymore, it's a popularity contest.

        I don't understand why he's so popular!

It is outrageous that Alijaz and Tasha were in the dance-off after that stunning performance. Not like any Argentine Tango we've seen before but beautifully performed, intricate and athletic as well as elegant and innovative.

As I recall, some idiot from Eastenders who couldn't and wouldn't dance ended up in the final against Natasha Kaplinsky in the very first edition of Strictly. Lesley Garrett who was clearly a good dancer was pushed into 3rd place because the Easteders fans repeatedly voted for the incompetent young actor. I hope it doesn't happen again this year.

Yes it’s the same story every year where some of the popular couples go through despite being bottom of the leader board.

I think Pete’s dance did have ‘the feeling’ compared to others, so maybe that’s where votes come from? Next week is two new dances, so that will be exposing and arguably the most challenging week as the finals include previous dances they have learned.

It is, and always has been, more of a popularity contest than a dance contest. Thankfully the truly hopeless don't seem to be in the equation in recent seasons, but good dancers have always lost out to those who are more popular, what the reason for that popularity may be.

@AuntyRach I think he knows enough now to feel his many mistakes but I don't think he feels the dances or even the music, hence his poor dancing. He does have a go but I don't think his heart's in it, or his head.

@AuntyRach I think you are right about his head and heart not being in it. However, if he said he was withdrawing from Strictly they would still have a vote off and somebody else would go too. I feel he really is stuck in something he feels he has no right to be in. In fact he has said as much. If the public can't take the hint.....

The Final tonight at 6pm!! Three dances each! Not sure if they whittle it down to just two or three by the last dance?

In many ways, Chris should take the trophy - dancing to a high level despite being differently abled plus his fabulous personality and attitude. Is he the best, the most polished, the most skilled or agile - probably not. How do you weigh all this up? Well what is the definition of the ‘the best’? Is it skill and accuracy, or performance and feeling? Is voting for Chris a bit obvious, or actually a bit biased, or is it the right thing to do???

Well I will be going on gut feeling tonight to who is ‘the best’ and I am still undecided…

We have friends coming for a meal tonight - when I arranged it weeks ago I hadn't realised it was the Strictly final ! She is a big Strictly fan, but I don't know if we will get around to watching any of it and we have a lot of catching up to do ! Plus there's the chaps to think of....

I am recording it, so I will catch up at some point. I know who I want to win .

@AuntyRach The question for me is "Is Chris there on ability, or is it a sympathy vote?" The answer for me is "On talent". His performances make him a worthy finalist, sighted or otherwise.

            :wow:

            Brilliant final!

I’ll comment tomorrow in case anyone who hasn’t seen it is looking on here for some reason.

I've just watched the Strictly final and I think it was the best final ever. The best dancer didn't win but the bravest one did. The judges scores showed who were the best dancers but I think everyone was happy with the winner.

I agree @Busy-Lizzie - the most deserving winner for many reasons. A great evening of high quality dancing. I will miss it. There is a Christmas Special however…
