Yes @AuntyRach she was undermarked IMO in the show but was dreadful in the dance-off.

I've just been reading some of the comments Giovanni allegedly made which have been classed as bullying. I must preface it by saying the article has disappeared.
"You have talent, but you won't use it"
"If you want to look **** on the night that's up to you"
He apparently also shouted the 'F' word in frustration on one occasion.

These said to a person aged 50, not 15. Assuming the quotes are accurate, have we really got to a situation where saying such things is now classed as bullying? If we have, it effectively means that nobody can be criticised for anything they do, or fail to do.

Yes @KT53 she just wasn't prepared for the work involved. The standard of dance and performance and the expectations of both spectators and the judges have increased exponentionally since that first series 20 years ago.

It is no longer possible to cruise thru doing just enough or relying on being funny or oddball or just attractive. They need technique, posture and performance to get anywhere and right from the start. Add to that the celebrities are partnered by world class professionals in top physical condition and it's daunting but, for some, clearly do-able.

Hamza Yassin was the least likely looking candidate last year and yet he worked hard and was a delightful and deserving winner.

I hope what's-her-face disappears into obscurity now.

Thoroughly enjoyed most of the performances last night - some were so stunning they brought a tear to my eye. Some were pure entertainment and I applaud anyone who will give of their best when they know they lack talent.

There were several moments that stood out for me last night @Ladybird4 .

I must mention Chris and Diane, how he does it I have no idea. I admit to a "heart in mouth" moment every time they start to dance, but by half way through I've forgotten that he is blind. Kudos to Diane, and to Chris for the tremendous effort.

Punam and Gorka's Bollywood couple's choice was what it should be about. Something different that clearly meant so much. I do wish they'd get all the couples choice dances out of the way in one week though, if they really must keep it.

I like Sarah and Vito. Unlike others she doesn't rabbit on (Vito makes up for that !), listens to what the judges have to say and that's about it. Reminds me of the old days.

As for Tasha and Alijaz, the best part of their rhumba was the audience sitting in complete silence for once.

Paul Merson. When Tess told him that his mother, who was sitting in the audience, was so proud of him, his response made me laugh.
"She's proud of that ? I played for Arsenal and England".

Finally Nikita. Not much to do with the dancing. There are times I curse my age :old:!

I haven't started watching yet. I got so annoyed in earlier series when some of the celebs were clearly there purely for their comedy value. Anne Widdicombe for example. I don't have a problem with somebody who has two left feet but it doing their very best.

I think the right couple were voted off last night. I do have to confess that I've never heard of the pianist Alexis French.

I voted for Tasha and Alijaž again.

I watched the results show later so fast-forwarded through the dance-off as I didn’t fancy watching those again anyway.

Alexis Ffrench (yes, 2 Fs!!) is a composer as well as a rather good pianist, @Ladybird4 . He composed that piece he played last night, and it's become very popular.

Does Tasha have dance experience? She moves like a dream... but the dancer I admire most is Chris McCausland. The Internet tells me that at my age I'm supposed to be able to stand on one leg with my eyes shut for only 3 seconds; actually I can do it for a bit longer, but I have absolutely no idea how Chris even knows which way is up, when dancing, let alone getting through a complicated routine.

Yes, the right one went last night, in my opinion.

@Liriodendron, thank you for correcting my spelling of Mr Ffrench's surname. Told you I had never heard of him! I did like his piano piece. Chris McCausland is absolutely amazing and Diane is a superb choreographer. Thoroughly enjoying their dances.

I didn't know he had two Ffs in his name, @Ladybird4 , until I looked him up on the internet. I'd just heard him on the radio...

There's a "Castle ffrench" in Galway, and quite a lot of Ffrenches in Ireland, but the largest number of people with that surname apparently come from Jamaica.

I loved Lauren & Kai's graceful dance accompanying the piano music.

We thoroughly enjoyed the show on Saturday - some really good performances, clever choreography and no horrendous choices of music. Really pleased to see Alijaz with a good partner and Gorka embracing Bollywood. Chris M is amazing.

In fact they're all doing well except the couple who left and that's a surprise as I expected better technique and performance from a musical person but she was pretty bad.

Oh my goodness! Strictly last night was a stupendous watch. I do not have the expertise of some viewers who can identify the steps and know what they are looking at, I just know what I like. I just love the spectacle and find judging impossible. I do have to 'fess up to being the proud possessor of a bronze medal for ballroom dancing, won when I was about 10 and knee high to a grasshopper. I would have no clue these days.

Chris McCausland did it again. Lifts as well.
I probably have even less idea than you @Ladybird4 , even though I've been watching Strictly since the very beginning.
I can recognise a fleckle (sp ?) thanks to Len Goodman's explanation on It Takes Two many years ago, that's about it. The shame .

I think Nick Knowles will be in the bottom two.

I was a little underwhelmed by Sarah Hadland this week, there seemed to be a lot of what Len would have referred to as "faffing about". There may have been a reason such as lack of rehearsal time. I skip through all the VTs so miss any explanations.

Alijaz and his partner certainly put some effort into the Charleston. A bit different to the usual.

Comments this morning about Wynne getting a bit "handsy" with Katya, and her leaving him hanging in a "high five". Apparently it was all a joke :th scifD36:.
