Stunning Gardens without Water

    I can't remember whether I've mentioned this before, but have you tried Aloe ciliaris ('Climbing Aloe') LOL? It does very well in the Med and can either be trained up as a short climber, where it grows to about 6-7+ft. high or allowed to sprawl and form a mound. The spikes are fewer flowered than many Aloes, but the flowers are a very pure, brilliant scarlet, which makes up for the lack of numbers. Here's a pic I've trawled:

    I have this growing here where it flowers in most springs. It is somewhat tender for the UK, but seems to flourish in Cyprus where it can get pretty cold in winter. I'll send a couple of pieces with your next parcel if you like. It is quick if watered well in summer and an unrooted cutting planted now should carry its first flowers next spring.
