Hi again. I should have asked. Do I use the same method for potted roses ? (apart from trimming the roots....obviously :)) Cheers...freddy.

Ok. It transpires that I`ve ordered bare rooted roses (wasn`t so clear on their website) and they should be delivered around nov/dec time. When they arrive, i`ll follow your instructions...WOO. Cheers...freddy.

Hi again. I'm now putting in a second arch, same as this http://www.forestgarden.co.uk/prodPages/FRA1A.asp. It will be located some 3ft or so from a 6ft wall to the east (garden is south facing). The arch itself will be facing north/south. The plan is to grow a couple of climbers, one either side. My question is, will the rose on the east side receive enough sunshine to thrive ? Cheers...freddy.

Hi Freddy I can,t see any problem but to be sure ,I would respectfully suggest that you log the hours of sunlight on each side of the Archway
and then we would have a better Idea
(Perhaps you already know the total hours)
,I have just finished an Arch and
will Put The Rose Compassion(Pink very strongly scented) on the side which gets the most hours of Sunlight and have decided on the Rose Golden Shower,s(Yellow) on the Side which gets less Sun
,which will grow in the shade This is only a personal choice but I would be interested to know the result of your hours,There are a number of Roses which require less Sun,I hope this is of some help to you.:):thumb:

Ho WOO, thanks for that. Thing is, it's not so much the hours of sun that concerns me, more the fact that the wall (on the east side)will shade the bottom part of the rose, as will the 'head'(or top) of the rose. The sun is pretty much in the garden all day, so overall, a good situation. Of course, this will only affect the east side of the rose (if you get my meaning). Cheers...freddy

Hi greengiant. They are commonly known as pergolas. Actually, very easy to make/put together. Hi again WOO. I must say, New Dawn (I assume that's the pink one) and Ena Harkness really do look rather good. What's the repeat flowering like ? Cheers...freddy.
