@Sheal I was going to offer to plant them up ..... But think I'll retract that offer now having just seen your last post :roflol:

Sorry Sheal I thought you meant you had trouble deciding on plants etc.

I forgot you suffer from wind and the cold.

Seeing as it's my business I have to try and make the front of our house look good :snork:, its like my shop window  So far I have planted these two large ones up but they're currently sheltering in the shed

There are some beauties on this thread!
I daren't hang my baskets in this wind! My hanging baskets are just getting going, but have yet to be 'hung' (sitting in pots). It's been so cold, I'm sure they'd be doing better still if we had something resembling summer. My fuchsias are way behind. The others are doing OK, but they could do with some proper sun and warmth!

Hi guys, My Begonia starshine mixed plugs that came puny from T and M have now been grown on to a good healthy size so I'm keen to get them planted out. Some 15" pots were purchased as recommended on here by Spruce I think. How many should go in a 15" pot, 12 or so evenly around the sides and not make use of the 'side planters'? Guesssing I should avoid the side planters as the Begonias may well smother them. The begonias are the only things planned for the baskets but may the middle be rather 'open' for something else?

Many thanks in advance as always :)

Just had a reply from Thompson and Morgan and they suggest 12 to 15" basket. Seem reasonable?

12 seems a lot to me, but then I never seem to have any luck with begonias.... maybe that is why I never have any luck with them

Hanging basket update, as they are finally looking good thanks to a brief spell of decent weather (although they are not yet hanging - still supported by pots. If the good weather continues with no more high winds, I'll hang them next week).

This is the largest basket, containing a mixture of everything:

This is the second largest, containing all surfinias, which is looking good now:

This is a very small basket. I can't remember the name of the orange flowers, and I've just added a deep burgundy (virtually black) petunia. The creeping jenny is a bit slow in this one:

My fuschia hanging basket has yet to flower, and is very slow to grow.
Here's when they were first planted up, for comparison: http://ro-ro-to-fro.blogspot.co.uk/2015/04/recycling-recycling-box-hanging-baskets.html

I thought as FC that 12 was a lot Sam . But I don't know B. Starshine. You can always pull a couple out if it looks cramped.
