Thanks Harry! It's my first year doing hanging baskets. I'm pleased with the ones pictured, still waiting on the smallest, with the fuschias. I had expected the plants in the largest basket containing a mixture to do best, but I possibly prefer the surfinias. May change later in the year though if we continue to get some sunshine, and if not all the plants in the mixture are successful, I will know what to go for next year.

Incidentally, @SamTheOldGoat my largest basket is 16" and has 14 plants in it (I actually added two after planting the initial 12). It doesn't look overcrowded... yet - it's a variety of different plants including ornamental grass and ivy etc.
Meanwhile, my 14" basket has 6 surfinias plus grass, ivy and creeping jenny. It looks pretty busy, but still isn't overcrowded (again... yet).
I didn't attempt begonias, but you may be OK with 12...

Trailing Begonia basket is starting to get going at last ! This one is B. Illumination scarlet , B. Santa Cruz ( which has not started trailing yet ? ) and Fuchsia Windchimes.
The other Begonia baskets are a little tardy , hopefully the hot and humid weather we are having will remind them of home in the Argentinian forests :blue thumb:

yes it is Spruce. It's hooked on Tomorite and I cut about 20 -30 dead heads per day from it. I think it'll do 'til Autumn - too late to put a Summer one up in its place now.

well why would you replace looks fab.

Come the end of August stop feeding and give it a good haircut (just leave two to three inches of growth on , yes servere looking but it will bounce back ) and if you can top dress the basket with fresh compost , then just water and keep it ticking over, tomato food only.

                    Spruce

Hanging baskets on the wall. They're difficult to water and to keep watered. The water is running off them so has to be done gradually. We use a hose on a sprinkler setting (too hard to lift a watering can up for so long) and go along the row of baskets at least three times to allow the water to soak in. This needs doing at least twice a day in this heat. Tomato feed once a week :blue thumb:
