    The old way to do it:- slice the crust off the bread, hold the whole loaf against your chest - cut side up, spread the dripping on the top, use bread knife to cut the bread - towards your chest, spread next piece.

    In the old days everyone seemed to cut the bread after spreading (butter or anything else) - don't know why! :scratch:

      I might have to give that a go! I generally prefer soya to quorn, but I've always got both in the freezer. :ccheers:

          Me too, also got some Linda Mcarthage fake Prawns, if you didn't know they were veggie you'd have a hard job to tell, tried them out on Willow's mate.

                I think it's becauce the bread was a lot better quality then than it is today, :dbgrtmb:

                Even for cutting a bread roll, you still need a bread knife.

                  when I roast a hunk of beef or pork I like to get a couple of those huge white onions and slice them thick about an inch, then lay them flat in the roasting pan, then place the meat on top of it. The onions act as a natural rack keeping the fat drippings at the bottom off the meat and also taste good later and easy to clean the pan.
