DSC00007 (2).JPG DSC00008 (2).JPG Second pic is nemorosa ''Mainacht'' and I can`t find the label for the red one .....there was one with ''hotlips'' but that`s not it - I`ve never grown that one. any ideas? The red one has been in flower for weeks.
Afterthought.....could the red one be ''Elegans'' ?

I agree with @Verdun . The calyx looks quite dark, could it be S.microphylla "Royal Bumble"?

I cut my Hotlips back so hard it is only growing now, I planted Amistad out which has flower spikes developing, so has nemorosa ostfriesland, Icing Sugar is growing well no buds yet but the creamy yellow jamensis Melen is in full flower.

:ideaIPB: Elegans will be the one I lost then! It was a gold leaf pineapple scented one I bought last year. The flowers were very very late - and then it just gave up the ghost :ouch1:
@longk I shall have to have another dig around and see if I can find the label of the red one I have that does NOT smell all pineappley .

Blue Note is similar but has more true blue flowers :yay:

Strictly speaking S.elegans is a winter bloomer in its natural habitat but as @Verdun says here it is late summer, autumn and spring blooming if kept frost free.

It is spectacular in pots but in the ground it is something else!

Elegans in pots near doorways and pathways gives delightful and strong pineqpple scent when brushed against. Mine have flowere already.
However, grow it in the ground and it will do 2 things......delay flowering until late summer and grow into very large bushes, at least 2 metres high and across :)
