Super Salvias!

Yes, but because I only have a couple (one last year, only got a couple of cuttings to take, but this year I have been able to take plenty of cuttings, so hopefully more plants next year).

 

Then I can only suggest that you talk to it nicer in future!!

A friend has it and has left it out some years, but it took a while to get going again. Always lifts it now.

Found out how to use my new macro lens and lens adaptor, so 3 Salvias today:
1) Salvia Leucantha 2) Salvia "Amistad" 3 ) Salvia "Dyson's Crimson"

Hi everyone. My first post. I love salvias....guanuajuato ......is my favourite. Large dark blue form of patens. I dig them up now and overwinter in greenhouse.

 

Salva leucanthemum grows large for me. 5' high and currently in full bloom. I split it in autumn and every piece grows. I cut off early flowers for mid summer to late autumn flowering.

 

That would be before blooming ?

Any others that you can recommend? Quite a few of us love the Salvias. Do you leave them in the ground over Winter or bring them all in?

Hi Jenny. Grow uliginosa, guaranitica, patens varieties, leucanthemum, microphylla types like christine two etc. some are bit invasive and some I dont like. uliginosa and microphylla are left in the ground. I grow hot lips too and it has survived for 3 years outside. Patens Guanajuato really,is lovely and stil in flower. Yep will wander round,the threads and get to know you all

 

I have Salvia Patens Oxford and Cambridge Blue seeds, Verdun.
Care to do a swap for about 6 Patens Guanajuato?

Hi Jenny. Ashamed to admit I don't do seeds really..too lazy I guess. I have salvias you offer. Not sure Guanajuato comes true from seed but perhaps I can send you some cuttings in the spring?

 

Shall we review the situation in Spring then? A lot will depend on the severity of the Winter to come.
