Me too :) Only mine must be even better than yours as I bought a second one :heehee:

I'd be interested to hear how you do your ziplock bags - wet paper of some sort? or compost / sphagnum moss? or something else perhaps?

I think some of mine have suffered from not having enough air. Do you open yours periodically, or just leave them until "ready"?

I've only tried it with daylily seeds Kristen which are quite large, I just put a small amount of slightly damp vermiculite in a bag (3-4 tablespoons), not too wet or the seeds rot, I use sandwiche size ziplock bags, I do open them occasionally but only usually when I'm checking if they've germinated, once the white roots are around 1 inch long I put the bags on a bright windowsill still sealed and usually within a matter of days the green shoot appears I wait till thats a couple of inches tall then pot up,over 95% success rate for daylily seeds !!!!!

Has anyone ever grown Salvia Divinorum ? its not one I've ever grown or heard of, I belong to a swapshop and there are some small plants up for swaps on there just wondered if it was worth adding to my salvia collection, only for the flowers mind, I wouldn't be using the leaves :hate-shocked:, don't think its illegal to grow is it ?

The Garland Super 7 propagator , must be the most popular one on here. Seems like at least 10% of us have one. They are a perfect size and shape :dbgrtmb: As Kristen noted making a planting plan is useful , so you don't have a queue waiting for the prop. Mine starts with Chillis late January through to Cosmos in the middle of March

Although I wonder if mine are generating as much heat as they used to?

Ah! Impulse purchase a week or two ago was a laser-thermometer thing (point at target, squeeze trigger, wait for readout to register the surface temperature). Something I can ACTUALLY try the new toy out on!!

28.7C, whereas the surrounding plastic case is 20.4C - which would be a reasonable temperature for "room temperature" at the moment, although a sheet of paper on my desk is 22C ... perhaps the windowsill is a couple of degrees colder than the room :( the uPVC window surround is 20C and the "brickwork" around that is 19C

Might be worth moving them OFF the windowsill if they are bringing on seeds that have not yet germinated?

I also wonder about enclosing the whole thing - so that more of the heat goes into the soil in the pots/trays that are on it ...

Maybe I should just get a reptile mat and put that in an insulated box for the initial stage before the seeds actually sprout. That would increase my germinating area too!

Glad I bought that toy :) off to eBay to look for something else to play with ... bought a dozen baby Hydrangeas the other day ... something to be potting on in a day or two's time at least :)

            I wish I hadn't done that :(

Been wandering around the house pointing the thing at the walls. The outside walls are generally 16C, and the window reveals 15C ... whereas the internal walls are 20C ... so one whole wall in each room is acting as a massive refrigerator :(

Good call - Hadn't thought to try Fridge with New Toy :)

Toy shelf items are around 13C, bottom shelf around 9C ... I wonder if that is too warm?

Worried I've got botulism from tonight's supper now ... :heehee:

Yes, I thought that too ... or my cheap infra-red thermometer is not very accurate ... I'l stick a thermometer in the fridge ... and then measure the temperature of the thermometer in the morning :)
