Thanks Sirius. I think it would be difficult to get that one, but you have prompted me to have a look on Amazon. There are several books on aroids. One looks like a gardeners book and others look more like agricultural/food oriented books. I need to take a closer look when its not so late.

Also thanks Sal. I was getting quite confused with all the different names for Colocasia esculenta. Dasheen appears to be a West Indian name, and I found this on a West Indian food site
So whilst Taro appears to be a general name, Eddoe and Dasheen appear to be different varients. They are both on sale in Bradford market - so I already have some thanks Sal.

Received the tuber today, thanks so much Sal, it's HUGE!

I'm just drying it off as it is a little slimy underneath. I've given it a dusting of sulphur and have set it aside to allow the surface to dry. Once I'm confident that there is no chance of rot I'm going to place it in a sealed container in one of my reptile egg incubators. Anyone got any idea what the best temperature would be to get these started? The incubator can maintain any temperature from 5*c up to about 40*c.

How about getting one of these Sal. This is another smelly one that I think it would eat an Amorphophallus alive.

As we had one of the worst spring ever , my project of the year turned in mash ......

But one of the main thing I`ve learned from tropical is to never give up untill the very end ...

the Suran started to rotten even before planted and decided that before throw them away I should have at least another try and wish for an hot summer ...
finally the hot summer arrived and so the Suran have come back

they may look fine from the top , but underneath the bulbs are all rotten full with worm and slugs

Sad to say that mine are soft too ... they are still in my hot box trying to be encouraged to make a start :(

How did anyone else get on?

although my Konjac has a decent sized leaf :) I should have measured it with a tape, rather than a span!, really
