    :doh: Oh dear Woo, rats around the nest area is not good news at all I know but sadly they do figure in natures patchwork.. I hope the swans will keep them away...!! :thumb:

    I suppose rats have to eat too but it's hard to feel any sympathy for them. I know the spot, Woo. To be honest, I think they'd be better off decamping to Leeds Castle next year :). But they all have their favourite spots, however inhospitable they look. We were in IKEA in Thurrock the other day (there I go, name-dropping again) and noticed that something - a crow, maybe? had built a next right at the top of one of their car park lamp posts!

    Hope the swans are OK. Thank you for the pictures.

    Thursday looks like 5 eggs only no more for 6 days,to day the Pen
    went for Ratty and it ran off:thmb::)

    :( Oh Woo that is awfully sad news to hear.. Strange as I thought that swans never left their nest unattended... I do hope those will survive then as three cygnets has to be better than none.. How much longer do you think before they hatch..?
