You can use it to draw a members attention to a particular post @noisette47

When I started using it I got it wrong.

You need to type the @ sign followed by the persons name BUT you need to put a space between the @ and the name. I had been trying it without the space.

When it gets posted it removes the space.

    Interesting.

It didn't when I was first doing it and, of course, have never tried it that way since. I'll give it a go now :blue thumb: @Scrungee

Whilst we're at it, you wont receive tagging alerts if they're not selected as enabled as in Alert Preferences, but that appears to be standard set up unless you've un-checked the box.

What does appear to be an unfortunate omission is the ability to get email alerts when tagged.

I think the issue folk have may have been having is that you need to type a few characters (minimum of 3) before the popup appears (otherwise it will be trying to give you a popup of every single member  ). It uses that Hint to prepare the popup list. If you don't know the first few letter of their UserName you are a bit stuffed ...

Thus if you want to alert "M" to your post you won't get a popup or confirmation at all ... but it still works.

@M ... Hmmm ... I could have sworn it worked, but it hasn't highlighted :(

    :)

@"M" . I put a space in between and it displayed M's avatar but I don't think it has highlighted after I clicked post reply?
    (edit) yes it did work.

It should work for "M" as well because, with the quotation marks, it's three characters.

You put quotation marks in! It only worked with "M" because she has quotation marks as part of her name. :)

          Missed the leading "@" ?

But my mistake, I had always thought M was a single character username ... I probably never registered the quotes around it. Checked it properly now and her username is indeed 3 characters, a pair of quote marks and an M :)

          Sorry for the confusion chaps.
