I've got forecast for my nearest town of 5degC on Sat morning and 4degC Sun morning, my outskirts of village plot can be 4degC below those forecast temps, so despite planning to sow in a small amount of seed compost in the middle of a manure enriched pit with a car tyre on top (to keep a little warmer, provide a dry 'ring' for slug pellets and something to throw some frost protection over), plus place a 2 litre water bottle cloches over the seeds, I'm now thinking about delaying sowing for a few days.

      Hi Richard ,

Does it help them if you " fry " them first :)

PS..... Glad I beat @martin-f on this one for a change :)

Sowed some sunflowers the other day and they're just starting to come up now, I won't be going for the tallest sunflower though I'm planning on medium sized multiheaded examples :)

I sowed, Irish Eyes (thank you Van Meuwen!), Vanilla Ice, Valentine & Velvet Queen
