They are everywhere, our nearest is 15 minutes away and we shop there weekly, there is another 15 minutes the other direction even ... :heehee:

I couldn't imagine you shopping there. Do you go in disguise?

We always keep a few Waitrose carrier bags in the car just in case we go to Aldi.

There's no reason to disguise if you shop at Aldi. It is perfectly respectable. In fact, I'd go so far as to say its actually posher than the main supers, if only because you can get more obscure stuff in Aldi than you can in the main ones. It was Aldi that introduced me to the delights of swedish meatballs, sharon fruit, and it was the first one to sell tiramisu ready made.

My husband is partial to their sticky cakes. I like their bottled cherries and raspberries.

I do have a wok that is black enough to ensure Ken Hom won't come round & cut a portion of my finger off, and a big old 1950's brown enamelled saucepan that is "ideal for home defence"

Diet tonic water? How does that work? Is it low fat synthetic quinine?

Aldi and Lidl's provide the best quality cooked meat products in the UK on par with DELI's along with about half the price
Cooking, I picked up a ten inch cast iron frying pan, out of ex RN stores in Gibraltar for £1 in 1971, it was well seasoned then, and all I do is wipe it out after use. Nothing sticks to it ever, even cheese and tomato Geordie Pizza
(Two fresh tomatoes sliced then Sweated down, add four ounces of mixed cheeses, chedar and danish blue etc, melt together then eat with loads of buttered crusty bread) :-)

Some very good prices in Lidl and Aldi. They're owned by two brothers who found they couldn't work together!
