After four rainy weeks with overcast skies (which have felt so long), the sun finally shone a little more today:biggrin:. So I took the opportunity to take some photos of the tulips. It's been the wettest March in Spain in decades; the dams have filled up for a summer without restrictions:hapfeet:. The other variety of tulips I planted (which I've left in a slightly shadier area to see if they thrive in less sun, so I can plant them there next year) are already close to opening their flowers:yes:.

The Dutch irises, bought at a gardening supermarket, aren't showing any flower spikes or buds at this point:dunno:. Is this normal? I think I'll pull them out; I don't think they'll flower. Please, those who are experienced with them, tell me if it is normal or not that they are not yet developing the flower:please:... What a scam:wallbanging:... the same with the crocuses I bought there, only 2 out of 15 bloomed. At least I am happy with my tulips and with the sun finally shining a little;)

      Lovely tulip colours! :dbgrtmb:

I don’t know about Dutch Irises, I’m afraid, but unless you urgently need the space, I’d leave them and see what happens.

Difficult to say about the Irises, but mine have leaf and not flowering yet.

The same here in Algarve. You have such lovely colours. I don't have any bulbs All of my pots have evergreens ... except for my Hibiscus rosa-sinensis which are not blooming yet as we had cold with the wet which is unusual here.

              Greetings everyone!:)

The tulips I had in a shadier spot (Black Hero) have bloomed. My wife says they're too dark. Of the 10 I planted, 8 have thrived... not bad :blue thumb:. The weeks of rain are finally over, and we're having several truly spring-like days .

Thank you so much for reading! :doggieshmooze:

I think the darker shade works very well in the sunshine, @PzaMayor3! If you lived somewhere cloudy, it might seem a bit sombre, but the light where you are shows it off to perfection, IMV. :blue thumb:

@ViewAhead , thank you for writing :ccheers:. There is a very popular song here in Spain that says that Valencia is the land of light . What does IMV mean?

                        Thank you @noisette47!!! ;)

I have a feeling it would work very well interspersed among other varieties of tulip or other flowering plants, poking its head out from between them here and there.

                          Thank you @Victoria!!!!

Zonale pelagorniums are wonderful plants in my climate (which must be quite similar to yours). They bloom tirelessly and abundantly all year round, providing color at all times. I think they're an incredible plant that should be appreciated :love30:

@PzaMayor3 "IMV" means "in my view". I agree with @ViewAhead - I think the dark one looks gorgeous in the light you have there!
