I know we are in a different age and era ... but how many of you out there met your 'first' and perhaps 'only' love at age 15 and are still with them, against your parents wishes?

I am not condoning this and I didn't meet my t'other half till he was 18 and I was 19 and we married on my 20th birthday four months after we met, which in this day and age is considered too soon and too young, and we were penniless and struggling ... 44 years later we are still wondering why we are still together ... :heehee:

... but we are now living a life a lot of people are envious of ... and we are loving it! :love30:

I believe she is; merely "misguided".

This is an emotive subject so lets keep it level headed people please. I know its bringing up lots of feelings but lets just keep em crossed for a good outcome.

I think the outcome of this scenario will be ok, Zigster. I'm loathe to judge the teacher (at this stage) simply because I think there is something in the girl's background which has been a catalyst to today's events and it has all just spiralled out of proportion.

There's a danger that people will only view this from the girl's perspective; but, there are two sides to every story. Time will tell. I just do not think she is in any "danger" per se.

Right, back to being a human, I was head over heals in love with a 16 year old girl when I was 22. We went out for a year, I didn't even think about the age difference, and neither did she. You don't at that age.

Younger than she are happy mothers made.

She's 15, she's full of raging hormones and any time up to the last century her parents would have been looking for a husband for her. She probably reached puberty 4 years ago and she's being treated like she should be a sexless child.

I'd be surprised if this relationship lasts, but it's probably less of a disaster for her than it is for him. I'm not saying it's a good thing for her but sooner or later you have to make your own mistakes and learn from them.......

I agree with those who make the point that he was an adult in a position of trust - he should have had more self-control, and this is a case of human weakness.

I haven't seen the news broadcasts with the parents' plea, but I got the feeling that maybe relationships had been under a bit of stress from hearing it on the radio. But aren't many parent/teenager relationships? We are not really in a position to judge. In a perfect world maybe this girl would have made different choices, but how many of us have perfect families? But we still manage to turn out OK.

When I was a school (longer ago than it feels ) there were rumours that a girl in our year (also 15 at the time) was having an affair with one of the teachers (he was only 22 or 23 ~ not a massive age gap), despite the rumours nothing gave any concern for those in charge to take things further. When we left school and she turned 16 she openly admitted to being in a relationship with this teacher, they moved in together, he left his job as a teacher and did something else, she managed to find work too and 21 years later????..........they're still together, married and have 2 children :)

I'm not condoning what has gone on and it is wrong, her parents are obviously devastated but so many teenagers these day mature a lot younger than we give them credit, yes she'll have racing hormones and say she's in love with him (which she may well be) and she wasn't dragged out of the Country and there's obviously no harm meant from him. BUT he will be the villain of this when they eventually get caught and he'll loose his life because of it.....:rolleyespink:

Just hope things turn out ok :)

I think the above feelings apply to both of them. If only they had waited just a few more months....

I'm not making any comment as to the rights, wrongs or anything else of this situation. I come on GC to get away from contentious issues (as I spend a lot of time dealing with them) but I find the variety of opinions quite interesting.

The only reason I'm here now is to correct a misconception. The law was changed with regard to teachers and pupils and now says that for a teacher to consort with any pupil under the age of 18 (changed from 16) is illegal.

                      With apologies :love30: :)
