Thanks for the replies and the few suggestions, I'll look out for those, though I have grown Jalapeno before and found them rather bland. Maybe it was just my growing technique though.
And thanks @shiney I had no idea there were variable heat levels from chilies from the same plant - now my own experinece makes sense.

Mini sweet peppers are now cropping

And I've got a Hungarian Hot Wax plant producing 'snail' like chillies, but my initial excitement about this new novel shaped chilli was dashed when I realised although they looked interesting, they would be a PITA to prepare.

The Hot Wax doesn't normally curl like that. It usually grows straight with a bluntish end. It's not too hot a chilli so can usually be prepared without scraping out the seeds or pith.

Well, I just picked up a couple of plants that were available, a Hungarian Hot Wax and a Habanero. Never grown either before, would these be better in a sunny unheated garden room or outdoors?

            Thanks

Sunny room GG , at least until high summer. Whenever that may be ! I think you will be happy with Hungarian Hot Wax , a good choice . :blue thumb:
PS : As the Chilli plant flowers indoors. The little white flowers, will need pollinating. Just use a cotton bud ,late afternoon , and stroke inside each flower. Don't use the same cotton bud on the Habenaro or you could get hybrid chillies. If you can get them outside in July the insects will pollinate them.

Well, chillies are now growing well, and we have a number of fruit that have set, some already over 2" long.

I have always failed to feed my chillies before. So to those who don't practice chilli-abuse, how often do you feed your plants once they are busy growing chillies?

We feed our chillies every time we feed our tomatoes - and use tomato feed. If they're flowering but not very big yet I'd feed once a fortnight and progress to once a week, or more often if the plant is prolific.

If before harvesting you don't water them for a few days, you can stress the plant and sometimes this makes the chilli's hotter ;)

Does shouting at them and stressing them that way make them hotter? :heehee:
