Has anyone else grown Patio sizzle? I'm wondering if they are as easy to dry as a cayenne, ie string up by the green stem, or do I need to freeze them to store? (Been meaning to ask for ages, but the first few are now ready to harvest)

I have given my chillies and sweet peppers some tough love. I did not water them on Saturday. I did not water them last night but sprayed them and toms, cuc etc with an Epsom salt solution. How long does my 'neglect' go on for? Feel mean.

Are you neglecting them to make them spicier?
Mine wilted to almost death after one missed day watering, although I only water once a day....

It's fairly common to try and get them to be hotter to stress them a bit but it's usually done when the chillies have started to ripen. If you stress them too early the flowers may drop off.

We don't stress ours any more than by accident. You can leave them until the soil feels dry on top. I wouldn't be inclined to go past that if you want them to produce new chillies as well.

We expect our plants to continue producing more flower and fruit well into October so don't do any 'stressing'.

This variety will continue to produce, if kept warm, through to February

It's a bit late but the seasons haven't been too good this year.

I don't grow peppers but the chillies were started on Feb 6th. The ones in the picture, that are red, are my own hybrids and are an early variety. The big ones that are green are a later type. We have other large varieties that are almost finished cropping.

I did water them last night - they all looked at me in a grump!!!

WOW - those pictures are fab - mine are nothing like that. Today they are in the plastic covered grow homes -sheltering from the wet, cold weather. A bit concerned that the crop will be small and they may not even ripen - but hey ho - first year and its all a learning exercise!!

I need a better greenhouse :( mine are still slow and green! I don't mind with the mild varieties. We eat them green fresh from the plant for about 5month of the year, but the hot varieties have only just started properly flowering!

They really need warmth to get/keep them going. My better ones are kept in the heated propagator but the hybrids are then quite happy to be kept in the main part of the greenhouse. :blue thumb:
