Well, the problem is, if I sow 2-3 seeds of each variety, none germinate. If I sow 5 modules, 2 seeds to a module, all 10 germinate, and when they are babies, I feel obliged to seperate the doubles to singles...

And there you have it. 10 times more plants than I really want!

My friends love me - until they try the chillies!!:heehee:. Seriously, it is amazing how difficult it is to give away healthy plants, sometimes!

It's usually a lot easier to sell them :blue thumb:

One year I put a barrow load of apples, in bags, on the front of our place with a sign saying please help yourself. After two days they weren't going, so I put another sign on it saying 50p a bag and the lot went in three hours.

As I've got a press, pasteuring equipment and hundreds of bottles I'll ckear anybody's excess apples/windfalls and give them som of the bottled juice.

I haven't got a press but I do have a freezer  and eight very mature apple trees left (three others are 'no more').

Yesterday we picked the first red chilli of the year. An Apache, v good flavour, and not too much heat (we did just use one in a large bowl-ful of vegetables) we have another two that are red and ready to pick. Probably about 200 waiting to ripen!!

Apache chillies just doing their thing!

                  image.jpeg

We are getting about 20 chillies per day, between the 6 plants. At the moment, we're using them fresh and freezing the surplus.
Has anyone successfully air-dried them? (We air dry the cayenne, by simply running a thread of cotton through the base of the stem, and hanging up out of direct sunlight)

I have grown Apache , a reliable good cropper. Although a little hot for me. I have grown Tokyo Hot for the last two years . A cayenne chilli with a nice heat. I got about 60% germination from the seeds I planted and gave most away bar two.It is a very good cropper , here are some from last year :blue thumb:
