I believe I have made a comment regarding any and all disagreements already.

I have offered my hand, if you don`t want to take it then don`t.

As Walnut quite rightly said, no-one can dictate anything to anyone, anywhere.

    Bas,
Quite a few of us agree with you regaring your general sentiments regards the sheds, ( including myself). I doubt however anyone actually agrees with the other half of what you said were you branded the staff as all idiots.

Pete has the right of reply on here, your â??idiotsâ?? donâ??t.

Yes thatâ??s the same bit of procedural red tape that covers adding a conservatory or porch, replacing windows, removing internal walls, etc, etc. As you confirmed there is NO LAW that requires you to follow the Wiring Regs which is the practical method of performing electrical work. Thatâ??s the focus of this discussion because as others have said they are open to misinterpretation.

You have not mentioned whether you are a 'competent' person â?? well are you really registered?

The reason I'm asking is because the 'competent' person scheme regulates those who work on electrical installations (a bit like Corgi who regulate those who work on gas installations).

    Oh well.

I suppose if I could be bothered to search the forum I'd not find any posts criticising people who have no right of reply would I?

Procedural red tape may be one way of looking at it, but you cannot deny that it is the law, and the question you asked was "what law?"

As for the legal status of the Wiring Regulations being the focus of this discussion, can you please point to the posts where this was discussed, particularly any where I have said anything about the law requiring you to follow them?

    Smoke screen?

The question you asked was "I think we should know what experience and qualifications you have that enables you to dish out advice here on Part-P?" so that was the one I answered.

If you wanted a different question answered then you should have asked it.

I am very competent, and I am qualified, but I'm not registered with any of the "Competent Person" schemes.

So that means your work must be inspected and tested by someone else!

If I do anything notifiable and LABC don't accept my qualifications, yes.

    Why the "!"?

True, but if they think that the Wiring Regulations are ridiculous nanny-state nonsense that can be disregarded then they'll come unstuck....

Apologies to all - it had escaped my attention - thanks for reminding me.

    Thank you.

It's not so much that I don't choose to answer that - my profession is nothing of which I have cause to be ashamed, I just wonder what its relevance is.

It's a subject in which I have considerable expertise, so my opinions are naturally pretty unshakable.

    Do you?

    I'm not sure I do.

But in the spirit of curiousity, there's something intriguing me...

    Is that you, Breezer?

Age and gravity caught up with Tommy & Charlie, and all that stuff about being the thinking woman's sex symbol went to Titchy's head?
