It doesn't matter how many times you, or anybody else says that, it will still be untrue.

To a post which can be summarised as "what should I do?" a reply was "Do as you like, I say, and sod the law".

That is not just an individual opinion with no context, it is that person advising the first to do what he likes and sod the law.

    I say, I say, I say.
That makes it an opinion, in my book, Ban all sheds.

Now come on, tell us all what you have against sheds?

Or is that just an opinion also?:D

Will you be glad to hear the following?:

    1) The Building Regulations apply to ELV installations just as much as they do LV ones. 12V or 230V makes no difference - anything you do must comply with the law.

    2) The scope of the Wiring Regulations covers ELV installations just as much as it does LV ones. 12V or 230V makes no difference.

    3) The Wiring Regulations do not differentiate between ELV and LV cables when it comes to installation methods and protection etc. 12V or 230V makes no difference - the regulations are the same.

My point is that they are staffed by idiots who cannot give helpful advice (not that that stops them trying), they scour the world for the cheapest and nastiest products they can find, and they have killed off all the proper hardware stores that used to exist, in just the same way that food supermarkets have killed off all the proper butchers, bakers, fishmongers, greengrocers etc.

I despise them for what they have done.

There are a lot of things I would love to keep as they were,as I am sure many of us do, but its not practical because there would be no progress. As for anywhere being staffed by idiots as you say. The staff can only be as informed as the trainning they have been given. You can buy cheap or you can buy expensive. You get what you pay for. Thats something that will never change. 02

Virtually none. Someone here posted a request somewhere else for assistance regarding the OP's question.

    Thank you.

BAS- People are entitled to their own opinions-and arguing semantics with a pedant is useless. BTW-you`re the pedant-everyone else understood what Pete was saying. We aren`t lemmings you know.

    Mmm.

That depends on whether you regard the loss of stores which may not have had a "choice" of 12 different brands of shiny chrome ELV lights, all carp, but did have people working there who actually knew stuff as "progress"....

Maybe I could add places like Wyevale to my list... ;)
