Sorry Pete, I didn't explain that very well. This is the Beeb! They're not about to give men a pay cut and won't like giving women a pay rise, so to offset raising women's pay they'll put it on the cost of a licence.
Disclaimer/not of sound mind Good morning sorry about this post but all at woos nest actually enjoy watching TV especially my disabled daughter and millions just like her,Mrs Woo can't walk very well and just loves it,yours truly loves documentaries ,all sport and when I see the inflated ticket prices to actually go to see these sports TV is a cheap way of seeing live sport, and for millions of people who live on their own,yes its company for them as for what other people earn has never bothered woo
Time for me to poke my nose in! It is human nature to get what we can for our labours. What a celeb is payed in relation to what someone who cleans up after an incontinent patient may seem disproportionate but sadly that is the way of the world. It could be argued that the Beeb shouldn't promote this culture but in its defense it has to be said that as a production company the Beeb is very successful worldwide. I doubt that any of us offered a pay rise would say "thank you but I can't as I'm not worth that much". The headline figures of many of the names is pre-tax, agent fees, lawyers etc. In many cases it will be paid to a company (as is the case with Chris Evans) who then pay them some of that money. Not peanuts kind of money but not the headline numbers either. As far as the gender pay gap goes I agree that it is harsh. Like it or not, women on TV have a shorter shelf life than men as they are judged on their looks so their lifetime earning potential is further reduced. But away from the Beeb women do earn big money (Natascha Kaplinsky, Davina McCall, Carol Vorderman) so it would appear that there is an issue at the Beeb to be addresssed.
We are just enjoying Castleton in the Peak District on Countryfile Should have been up in Chatsworth in our caravan but had to cancel it due to my foot op so enjoying the Peak District from the warmth of our house...
