Hi @fairygirl I carried an SLR and numerouse lenses about with me for a long time but then I got the Panasonic FZ 1000 and never looked back,I never used to take my mobile with me but then I was wading through some mudflats photographing birds and got well and truly stuck ,so I had to call for some help,I am glad that I had it with me ,now I only use it in an emergency:smile:

It certainly came in handy for you that day @wiseowl !
I know very little about all the ins and outs of cameras, bit I love taking photos. The problem I have just now is that this laptop hasn't the capacity for the pix I have, so I have an expansion doofer, and it's playing up as well now

Spring is beginning to make its entrance in this area and today we took a ride to neighboring Vermont to visit our favorite nursery. Vermont is a short 30 miles from our house, but it is so very different. The pace of life is so much slower, laid back, not like the hustle and bustle of New York. The people are more friendly, at the nursery they offer you a free coffee. Take as long as you want is the way of life. There are a number of covered bridges from the 1800s still in use. They don't knock them down because they are old, they simply maintain them and they become tourist attractions. And, you never know what other old gems you might come across.

As I thought about it, the old Ford 1923 model T would look more natural if it were not in colour. And, I sure would not want to be the person who had to wash the windows in that house!

That tree was probably standing there when the Normans invaded.

Lovely shots @hydrogardener. It's good to see areas of interest from further afield than Britain. :)

I wouldn't like to guess the tree's age but you could well be right.

              The tree's very impressive
Nice day out for you @hydrogardener - and no, I wouldn't fancy washing those windows either!

The old village of Cromarty is at the far end of the Black Isle, Inverness. The area has been an industrial port for many years and used for dismantling retired rigs. I'm not sure what the second image is about but my daughter said the upright pods look like the boosters used on spacecraft. Someone else has suggested the bases of wind turbines.

The housing in Cromarty is very compact so proves difficult to photograph. I've 'borrowed' this first shot from the web.

                  Morning all

I’m hoping this is the right place to post. Just wanted to share some photos from my walk this morning.

Lovely @latimer - and it looks like that mist will clear nicely.
Dank and murky here - and not to improve much!

                    Your house is lovely....:heehee:

                    Which house is that?

It's beautiful. I used to love visiting some of those huge mansions in the distant past. I'll have a wee read of that later on

I know what you mean about large houses/gardens - been there and done it, and I'm glad I had to leave. Unless you have a serious amount of staff for those huge properties, it's just a millstone round your neck as you get older.
I haste to add that the 'large' house I lived in was a tiny cupboard compared to that one though!

@fairygirl yeah, my parents have a pretty big house with a pretty big garden and my dad is now struggling to keep up. He says he barely manages to weed the garden from one end to the other before he has to start again! :)

It's fine if you only have a few areas that are planted up, and the rest is grass. Not easy when there's a lot of planted areas to maintain.

In ye olden days, those grassed areas just had a flock of sheep on them, until lawnmowers were invented. Maybe your Dad could consider a couple of sheep ;)
