This giant carving was near the start of a walk I did with my brother today. It looks as if it has been carved in situ from the remains of a damaged or diseased tree. It is near a pub with the same name, nice three course lunch afterwards . Two more views also.

Another visit to Ness Botanic Gardens, Wirral, today. Lots of spring blossom.

Another local walk today with a visit to St Bartholomew's Church at Thurstaston, Wirral, which has a link with the "Titanic". It has a lychgate at the entrance in memory of Thomas Henry Ismay, founder of the White Star Line, plus his tomb in the grounds where he is buried with his wife Margaret. He had a large country house nearby at Dawpool which was demolished a few years after his death.
