Just got back indoors from seeing the ISS for the second time tonight.
First orbit I completly failed to line up my camera and missed and shot.
Second orbit tonight it was cystral clear and spotted the ISS early.
Set exposure for 60 secs this time and keeped my fingers crossed.
And then,, the ISS faded away! I believe it must have flown into the Earths shadow before it left my horizon.
As you see on the picture the exposure starts with the light path on the lower right and you can see it fades away as it travels to the left.
You may find this interesting or not:scratch::scratch:
In the following nights I hope its clear and go for a full 60 secs exposure

You are quite right Caps the space station does fade out quite quickly as it enters the earths shadow well caught, too much light pollution and buildings around us to catch it that low but from tonight there are some high passes could be in with a shout.:thumb:
Great shots Kathy what a magnificent bird.:gnthb:

Super images again, Kathy and Robert. Photographing the night sky can be difficult, so please, Robert, what type of camera have you used for you ISS image? Obviously, you used a tripod.

My ISS picture was taken with my Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3.
I used the starry sky mode selection and select a shutter apeed of either 30 or 60 seconds. That last picture was 60 secs.
I shall try again tonight if it clears a bit.
First pass for me is at 8:37 with a 4 minute pass going to 43 degrees.

Second pass is 10:12 with only a 1 minute pass ay an max elevation of 16 degrees. Could easily miss this pass due to the low angle.

At the 8:37 pass there may still be to much light in the sky for a full 60 secs exposure, it may have to be a 30 secs one. I hope it clears a bit. I reckon I shall probable lose it in the earths shadow again as the timing is about the same as last nights

Thanks for your reply, Robert. It never ceases to amaze me the type of modes they build in to digital cameras these days. I wish you good luck with your image making this evening.
I hadn't thought about even looking for fallen conkers this year, mainly because I thought it was still a little too early. Obviously not! Nice picture, Woo.

Missed out on the ISS last night. Total cloud cover which was a real shame as the first pass was a high one.
Theres more chances during the next few days

    Good night for ISS spotting.
    Two pictures for you.
First is a full 60 secs exposure taken shortly after appearing over the horizon right to left.

This second one is another 60sec exposure travelling from right to left

Great images, Robert and Walnut. I like the way the clouds streak out in yours, Robert, it's like an aurora.
