A walk along the beach at Walberswick yesterday afternoon. Few other people about, very peaceful.
This part of the coast has a subtle, rather desolate beauty which you have to give yourself time to appreciate.

A light offshore breeze, a hazy sun and the sound of the waves gently rolling on to the shingle.

Looking away from the sea, across the marshes.

    A sizeable chunk of driftwood!
Where did this tree start its journey I wonder?

      Hi all :)

Still trying different things with my camera and I took this view of the weir in my local park the other day.

This image shot in standard point and shoot mode

To this image shot with a slower shutter speed and tweaked up in canon photo studio, not meant to be a serious effort but I quite like the results for a first attempt although I will have to get used to using the manual settings properly which will hopefully result in less editing and a more natural looking colours.

I had a night's B&B in Somerset last week for what was probably my last fishing trip of the year, was just about to drive off in the morning when I thought I'd take a pic to remind me of the trip:

We saw lots of these at Portmeirion in Wales where we were informed that it's apparently an old Scottish tradition although none of the 12 or so Scots in the group (trip down from Edinburgh with uni) knew anything about it:sunny:

I just happened to have my camera with me when Sarafi, the Bengal Snow that visits us now that Oscar is no longer with us, had a mad moment.

He decided to rush up a tree in our front garden. I know that cats have such a habit, but this tree is vertical and we have removed the side branches for the first 8ft. He was moving pretty fast so I couldn't catch much of his climb but he was just reaching the branches in this shot.

                  P1120082.JPG

He then climbed into the branches, stepped onto the roof, turned around and started back.

Then he had to pause and rethink. I could almost read his mind.
"This looks harder than I thought!"
                  P1120083.JPG

                  "Well! Here goes."
                  P1120084.JPG

"Nope! Not keen on that idea so I'd better do it the wimpish way!"

some pics from last summer in "suedtirol"/ Northern Italy. Its a wonderful combination of Austrian-type mountainside with an unmistakeable mediterranean touch (vineyards, warmer climate..)
