How do you manage to stuff a goose in a duvet? Wouldn't it keep falling out?

Linda, it is sad when you cannot enjoy the reserve because of the wildlife which you have come to see. Have you spoken to the rangers to see what they can suggest? They should be there for your safety as well as the wildlife.

It might be better to have something that you can flap in their faces rather than just a stick, something like a coat. If the worst happens you will only get pecked. I know it hurts but I have never heard of anyone getting killed or badly injured by a goose. I reckon they are bullies cause they were in a gang. Try bread as a diversion. Throw it down and they will be so busy beating each other up over it you will be able to make your escape. At Ellesmere I have noticed they tend to back off if you face them down. I do have some photos of a big gander from quite close up and he was being a big aggressive. As I was intent on getting my photo he backed off, albeit with a lot of noise. I remember thinking " try and peck me mate and I will grab that neck and swing you round" I would flap a coat in their faces and chase them. At the worst they will peck the coat, but I think they will poo themselves with fright and run for it.
