I wanted to have a go at making my own ‘Jerk’, hence the Scotch Bonnets.

A funny thing. I was given a Scotch Bonnet, which I used to make Jerk Chicken. Nowhere near as hot as I was expecting. When I harvest my own, I’ll be taking care though!

Last year I bought a yellow Habanero plant, which I thought had some heat however The habanero chili is only 260,000 SHU, whereas the Scotch bonnet is about 445,000 SHU. Interesting.

A guy at work is growing a Reaper and has ghost chillies in his freezer. This guy likes his food hot, I mean really hot. He has a condiment tray on his desk which he and his mate sitting next to him share. It has chilli sauces ranging in heat from hot to really really hot that they put them on their lunches

My plants are tiny compared to this.

I must start earlier next year.

I agree. Although I like very hot chillies I don't eat the Nagas that I grow because of the perfumed taste.

I shall be doing the last potting on of some the Shiney Hybrids next week. A lot of them have flower buds on them. Unfortunately they're all covered in aphids. They get washed off every day - a bit of a nuisance with a hundred or so plants.

Potted mine on today and moved to greenhouse. They were doing very comfortably on the windowsill but time to shift them out the bedroom!

I went to a garden show yesterday and a local chilli farm was selling chillis of every variety including Dragons Breath (2,480,000 Scovilles), which is 500 times hotter than Tabasco sauce and 200,000 scovilles hotter than the Carolina Reaper. Most of their chilli plants were only 2”/3” in size and only recently repotted from plugs and they were all £6.99 each. It didn’t look as though they had sold many though

                    That's £2.80 per inch :yikes:

Cor, I've just measured my Chillies and they're worth £ 2,662.80. I probably should increase my contents insurance.

You could maybe make a few bob on Ebay @Scrungee [IMG][IMG] [IMG] [IMG]:lunapic 130165696578242 5: Seriously £6.99 is a rip off. I only paid £3.99 for my Trinidad Scorpion and that was much bigger. But as @HarryS has said, it’s a good business opportunity for somebody next year.

They're only tiny plug plants, my Nagas are in 90mm square pots:

I sell my Nagas for between £4 and £6.50 but that's only when they're about 15" high and covered in edible fruit - usually in July.

The ShineyHybrids are not sold until Open Day at the end of May (they're a lot hardier than the Nagas) and are usually full of flower by then and with the fruits forming. They sell at £3.50.

I have 60 of these Hybrids on the windowsills and loads more, and the Nagas, in the greenhouse. I've just taken these photos in low light levels so am not sure how they'll turn out.

There are already flower buds at a lot of the branches down the stems. :blue thumb:

These are going to need to be potted on to their 2 or 3 litre pots soon (should be now but I'm too busy - and my back isn't up to it yet).

I haven't checked on my overwintered Hybrids for a week or so  They just get watered by hose when we do the greenhouse and have to survive on their own.
