No prizes for guessing which are the germinating 2017 self saved seeds and which are all the other non-germinating seeds bought only last year:

Maybe the others will still germinate?

I'll give them another week then think about buying :yikes: some more, trouble is there's no longer any overlaping promotions to get them completely free or 6 pkts for just £1.95 postage.

EDIT: I cracked early and ordered a few packets of chilli seeds ftom Premier Seeds on ebay @ 99p/pkt delivered. Didn't want to leave it too long as I want to be able to save seeds for next year.

Our germinated seeds are gradually being transferred to seed tray (about 150 plants so far). The seed trays stand in cat litter trays that have water in the bottom (not from the cats :rolleyespink:) and are placed on the windowsills. The windowsills have radiators beneath them.

I’m thinking of having a go at making my own Jerk seasoning from scratch. For this it’s recommended to use ‘Scotch Bonnets’. Does anyone have any experience of using anything other than ‘Scotch Bonnets’? Are they vital to the recipe?

My Chillies are in the light box and showing their first true leaves after 17 days . They should be ready for pricking out next weekend , then back into the light box for another month :blue thumb:

Cayenne, patio sizzler, Lombardo, basket of fire and jalapeño.

Sown mine too today. ‘De Cayenne’ and ‘Apache’. Only 4 seed of each as I’m not looking for a massive harvest.

@Freddy , 4 seeds ? Being a bit frugal there . Hopefully you will get good germination. But to my experience I get 60 -70% germination . Out of these I get two or three that germinate but don't seem to unfold . I would sow 10 seeds of each minimum .
I only keep two plants for myself and give the extras away.

I’m only looking to end up with one plant of each, especially if I go ahead and sow some ‘Scotch Bonnets’.

Ok, whilst out and about, I looked for some ‘Scotch Bonnet’ seed, nothing doing. As luck (?) would have it, Wyevale had some small plants, six for £3.50. They look pretty healthy, so off to a good start. As they’re only in plug size pots, I think they need potting on. 3-4” pots?
