The cost of living... what can we do?

An heated THROW is good They run at the new higher cost of 4p per hour
They are about 8' x 4' very soft material Last week it was 1.7p per hour
they have a heat and timer controller
Mine came from that BIG RIVER online shop

reminds me of the third world....is that where we are now ?

 

Can you share a link to it Jack? I had one a couple of years ago. It was great for a time but mine was a cheapo. I fell asleep on it on the sofa, and was woken by the wife, clearly alarmed by the smell of burning. It was me, or more specifically the heated throw I was laying on. It's thermostat had malfunctioned and it had got hot enough to just start getting very uncomfortable, not quite but nearly burning my skin.

I'm not put off. Mine was just a cheap and nasty dodgy import, probably didn't comply with British standards. If I could find a decent one and definitely have one again.

 

We're all dooommed.

 

Yes I believe that to be the case. For most of my life so far, I cared, but I've come to realise it's futile. I feel sorry for the youngsters. They blame us slightly older folk for not caring. They're passionate about it all. They don't know yet that in a couple of decades or so they'll realise that their efforts are equally as futile as when I was a young eco warrior, and the hippies long before me.

 

But the sun is shining in the sky yet again this morning ,

So, fewer baths and showers and more strip washes at the basin .
What temperature should the immersion tank be set to get a hot, but not too hot temperature ?
It's at scalding temp. at the moment and I feel it can be lowered,

On the point of hot water tanks, ours is to old fashioned indirect heating from the gas central heating system but the tank also has an electric immersion heater element.

Which is the most economic way to heat the hot water , gas/ch or electric ?

 

Gas was always the less expensive way of heating water, but now I'm thinking it should be electricity.
But as the prices have been linked in order for maximum profits I'm guessing it's still the same.
