Well lets wait and see what profits Morrisons declare at the end of the year, I doubt they will be in the red, might even be up on last year.;)

They will be up, but not only because of muffins - they've simply passed on the cost (and a wee bit more) to you and me at the tills. Don't forget that profit margins are generally set as a percentage, so if the input cost goes up so does the profit made.

Our major grocery chains all declared record profits since the start of the pandemic. Disgusting!

I'm trying to learn to make or bake more things. Ready made always costs more so DIY is my goal. There are some things I will NOT DIY such as going back to changing my vehicle oil. I'm too darned old and I just plain don't want to!

I had an LED light go and to replace it would have cost double what I had originally paid so I reused the ballast to use to mount my own "Frankenstein " version. Saved me £100. Yes, it took me a bit of time to wire together a working model using a leftover inverter etc. but most of the effort was my brain grinding to think of solutions..

          Agreed, profiteering as I said.;)
The small business may well be suffering, but the big ones are loving it.

Morrisons have been increasing the prices more and faster than its rivals. Haven't they even lost the status of being the 4th biggest supermarket to Aldi. They have nearly a £7billion debt to finance, with rising interest rates I bet cd&r equity firm wouldn't of sanctioned the takeover if they could turn back the clock.

I dont get involved in that kind of stuff, I just shop there.
If they have a 7 billion debt then how much do the others have?

Its all just numbers, the country is in debt, the world is in debt.
I dont think debt means much these days although government like to use it as a way of manipulating the population into thinking they need to do more.
They can poke their debit where the sun don't shine, I owe nobody nothing, and I hope it continues.

Debt only matters to us plebs - when it comes to the business world, they don't care.

Also councils... Ours is about a billion in the red and still happy as a clam. The residents aren't!

There are options like grants whiich are provided by government under ECO schema..so if we cant afford the amount of installation, we can apply for solar panel grant...so we can get it done with the help of grand providers. I had my solar panel installation without spending anything...Why bothering about money if we have so many different options...
Will share my providers info for more details...Have a lookshare my providers info for more details...

You may well need to be on benefits to qualify for a grant, they seem to change the rules and amounts every year.

Child benefit counts, even though you might not be deemed as being on low income, you still might be eligible. It also depends on the energy efficiency of the property, D and above qualify.

The ECO4 government backed scheme is a £4billion pot has been allocated towards the installation of solar panels and heat pumps, depending on your eligibility, they could be installed, partially or fully funded by the grant.

It might depend on your area. Here in Surrey we don't need to be on benefits to be eligible for the grant. We were means tested though and had an EPC done on our property funded by the scheme. Our low EPC meant we were eligible for solar panels and insulation. Once those were done and our EPC went up to C, we could have had a £5,000 grant towards an Air Sourced Heat Pump to replace our ancient gas boiler. We decided just to buy a new gas boiler ourselves as was cheaper. Grants were limited and the funds for Surrey were quickly used up. New funds should be forthcoming in the next financial year. I guess other councils vary, but if you need solar or insulation it's well worth seeing if your council will help.

Is that the ECO flex scheme, where all councils can expand the eligibility pending a means test.
