I've not had a lot of luck with plugs (T&M being the common denominator?) But have had a lot more success from seed.

@JWK - I am not only growing for myself but also for family and friends, so the seed quantities aren't just as optimistic as they sound

No easier from pellets FC. Don't prick them out individually, dig them out gently in clumps of about one and a half inches across then pot them on in the clump. I always start mine in the propagator as they tend to like more and even heat than with other annuals. They germinate fairly easily but are a little slow to put on growth when first potted on.

Its too easy to point the finger at the big bad T and M , I have bought seeds from them for years and plugs on one or two occasions and not had a problem . Although nowadays I do buy my plugs from smaller nurseries as they have a huge advantage...cheaper !
If you are growing from seed for family and friends you have a huge list of plants to grow there and if you plant in the quantities Moles supply it could get a little too much to keep track of . As JWK said ,Ebay and Wilkos et al packet sizes are normally more than enough.

Only to add re: T & M , their plug plants are far too small and fragile, we don't get warm weather early enough to grow them on. T & M seeds are very good. :blue thumb:

Just bought my Ebay seed order , 9 varieties ( flower seeds and Chillies ) from 4 different suppliers . I just used the "Add to Basket" feature , and ordered and paid for them in one click , less than £13 the lot! I will be ordering some seeds , mainly Petunia Wave® seeds from the USA later this week . You need to go on Ebay.com to find most of the American buyers . For some seeds far more choice and at least half price. Only be planting the chillies at the end of this month , most others will be in early March.

I have managed to lose all my seeds. I took them all with me to the UK so I could sort them and send send some off to Pam for the seed swap. I really thought I'd packed the remainder when I came back to France but they are no where to be found. My Dad swears they're not at his house and I can't find them anywhere here. So, guess I'm starting with a clean slate and can buy exactly what I want - if only I knew what that was :heehee:

In the seed swap by accident? I'm first on the list so tell what it is that may be in there that you wanted and I'll seal them up ready for when the parcel gets to you.

No, they were definitely in a small carrier bag in my room just before I packed to come home. Just disappeared into thin air after that! But thank you anyway

Today, courtesy of Mr Fothergill, I received

                      Cornflower Tall Mixed (500 seeds)
                      Echinacea Dreamcoat (20 seeds)
Salvia Blaze of Fire (100 seeds)
                      Salvia Blue Angel (20 seeds)

Petunia Double Cascade Blue F1 (50 seeds)

1 packet free when you buy 5 and free postage (even to France which I didn't expect). That's one of tomorrow's jobs sorted then.
