Whoops! I forgot to say - you may even have made the difference between the UK going into recession and staying out of it. There's got to be a line between the two, somewhere. :)

I think it would sit easier in my mind if the property developer were building the much demanded "affordable" housing. 5/6 bedroom houses are not really going to help those desperate to get on the property ladder. (Although the counter argument could be that those moving into them will potentially free up 3 b/room properties which in turn could then free up 2 b/room properties).

That's really sad @"M", hopefully once the houses are up the occupants will make the garden nice again :hapfeet:.

Just over a year ago, I created a new border

March 18th, 2016 (please note the iris in the bottom left hand corner of the photo below)

          CIMG0010.JPG

Different year and a different angle and this is how it looked April (2017)

          CIMG0075.JPG

And now in May (2017) - please note the iris now 13 months on and the bottom of the photo!

          20170502_124449.jpg

I know some people prefer their plants to be in neat groups, but I'm loving the whole mixed look and the scent is wonderful!

If all goes to plan, I'm hoping this year will be the one where I get my mini pond and "bog garden" in situ :fingers crossed:

            It looks lovely :dbgrtmb:.

We also don't do neat groups of anything and plants just get stuck wherever we feel like. The only neat bit are the lawn edges. :noidea:

It looks good to me @"M" ! :) I couldn't have borders in my last garden due to all the main services running through it. I found beds in the lawn need to be laid out differently to do the plants justice.

Great progress M, it's amazing how that border has filled out, your green fingers are working wonders.

I must say, I much prefer your existing garden :dbgrtmb:. The previous garden looked more like a football pitch :heehee: - not my cup of tea at all - it's flowers all the way for me :spinning:.

Still working on my patch - it's only been 5 years - another 5 and I might have whipped it into some sort of shape :).

Thank you for the kind words and encouragement @shiney @Sheal @JWK and @clanless your comments are genuinely appreciated.

I'm growing some plants from seed to line the trellis with for the summer: cobaea scandens and black eyed susan. Running at a 20% success rate with the seedlings at the moment but I consider that an achievement :heehee:

@"M" cobaea scandens can take a while to germinate but you should get good germination. They prefer somewhere warm for germination. :dbgrtmb:

The ones which have sprouted were started off in the bathroom; then the same tray was put into the grow house with the sprouted ones (after the sprouted ones were potted on). I am *determined* to get a good result because I have "Shiney Cobaea" envy!!! :heehee:

Yesterday, I decided some of the wooden garden furniture needed painting.

I needed to put a preservative coat/paint on some of the wooden furniture including the Veg Trug and this is how it turned out after just one coat:

                          CIMG0018 (820x1024).jpg

Enthused at the result, I turned my attention to the garden bench. Before:

                          CIMG0015 (824x1024).jpg

                          and after a new "coat"

                          CIMG0011 (846x1024).jpg

I'll probably give the bench another couple of coats, but I'm rather chuffed at how it turned out.
