    That's an excellent post C1.

    I think it's all too easy to think that the generation before were 'old-fashioned' or 'out of touch', not so, imo. 'Fashion' is just that, something that is 'in' at the time. Hopes and aspirations are something shared by all, including that sense of 'brotherhood'. Just imagine how that sense was for those sat in the trenches in WW1.
