I think that's down to how well you know them.

Golf clubs are a bit like the "Moose Heads." (I turned them down).
Though my daughter's long-haired partner, was "Head Moose" in his lodge at one time. With the IT brigade I guess it's all about networking.

        Networking is good. :blue thumb:

Everything depends on the point of view.

A friend who is an electrician came into our house to sort out some lighting problems. Mrs Shiney gave him a reflexology treatment. No money changed hands. :dbgrtmb:

I am currently taking TSB Bank to the Banking Ombusman....

You can only get the account with 3% on the first 1500 quid and 5 quid a month cash back if you are a new customer. We are I’m told can whistle.

I called at the bank then phoned the switchboard both told me the same. So I asked to speak to a manager and raised it as an official complaint. I stated clearly that if I was dealt with by a standard letter I would resort to the ombudsman system which I know for a fact costs the bank an absolute minimum of £500...... I got the usual letter so here we go....

I feel no guilt in getting jobs completed by people I know and trust.

If you think about it, by the time you've paid tax, N.I. and put a shed load of money into a private pension, because you're never going to be able to sustain your current standard of living on a state pension, you're luck to see half of the money you earn. Then another fifth of with what you are left goes, if you actually spend any of it!

VAT started at 8%, varied a bit but then rose to 15% and now 20%. We sometimes talk about inflation. That's about the best example of it I can think of.

I didn't spend a lot, we didn't go short of anything, but we weren't extravagant, but I did bang the maximum into AVC's for getting on for twenty years.

A happy circumstance forced upon me when interest earnings were high as were annuity rates.
